As the leading lady in our recent Parisian wedding photo shoot, I am thrilled to share the unforgettable experience of capturing the essence of love and elegance in the world's most romantic city. This editorial marks the beginning of an annual series of international shoots by Zankyou Portugal, and we couldn't have chosen a more iconic location to start this adventure and the most amazing partners to do make it happen.
Throughout this post we will enjoy the photos and video of It's All About!
Paris, often dubbed the "City of Love," may seem cliché, but there is a reason so many couples dream of this city as the backdrop for their most important moments. Its emblematic beauty, exquisite architecture, and romantic atmosphere create the perfect setting for a wedding editorial.
The theme and concept of this shoot were inspired by the city itself. We aimed to capture the sophisticated Parisian style, blending it with modern bridal fashion trends. Collaborating with Gio Rodrigues as a fashion designer and with local vendors, including Hotel Le Littre and the beauty hair & makeup artist Jazelle Beauty, allowed us to explore this vision with a playful twist, creating an editorial that celebrates both tradition and innovation in bridal design.
Planning a wedding photo shoot in Paris involves several special considerations. The weather can be unpredictable, so we chose spring when the city is particularly charming and the weather is milder. We also coordinated timings to avoid crowds and secured necessary permits for shooting at certain locations. The logistics were complex but crucial to ensuring everything ran smoothly.
Paris is renowned for its iconic landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower, but we wanted to ensure our photos did not appear clichéd. To achieve this, we sought unique angles and perspectives and used natural light at different times of the day to transform common scenes into something extraordinary. Additionally, we blended landmarks with personal elements and lesser-known architectural details of the city, adding a special and exclusive touch to the photos.
The collaboration with Gio Rodrigues was absolutely pivotal for us. I went to Gio's atelier and after just 5 minutes of conversation, he perfectly understood our vision and created exactly what we wanted for this editorial! In record time, we had the outfits ready just in time for the editorial.
Additionally, we featured shoes from Anna Walker, of the Badgley Mishka brand. Jazelle Beauty, a renowned Parisian hair and makeup artist, was tireless during the two days of shooting. She understood our concept perfectly and created incredible looks for each look.
Hotel Le Littre was chosen for its privileged view of the Eiffel Tower and played a crucial role in this editorial, allowing us to capture wonderful images of it.
We discovered that Paris is brimming with hidden gems perfect for intimate photo shoots.
One of the biggest challenges we faced was the unpredictable weather. During a shoot on our way to the Eiffel Tower, we were caught in a sudden storm. We adapted by taking shelter in a nearby café and used the time to capture spontaneous and intimate photos of the couple, which turned out to be some of the most memorable from the editorial. This experience taught us the importance of adaptability and creativity in unexpected situations.
Shooting in Paris requires a special focus on the city's architecture and atmosphere. We used plenty of natural light and shadows to highlight the beauty of the Parisian buildings and streets. Techniques such as layered composition, where different elements in the scene are used to create depth, were essential. We also played with reflections in shop windows and puddles to add an extra dimension to the photos.
For couples considering Paris as the location for their wedding photo shoot, our main advice is to plan ahead. Consider the logistics and secure the necessary permits for desired locations. Explore lesser-known spots to avoid crowds and add a unique touch to your photos. And above all, embrace the Parisian atmosphere and culture to make the experience even more special and authentic.
I'd also like to emphasize the work of Alex Valentin. His professionalism was impeccable, and he was the perfect match for me. Together, we achieved perfect harmony, which was crucial for the success of the editorial.
Throughout the editorial, when discussing the photography and videography techniques used, It's All About was instrumental. The preparation, coordination, and supervision by Zankyou and My Hand Wedding were essential to the success.
This shoot in Paris was just the beginning of a series of international editorials that Zankyou Portugal will conduct annually. We cannot wait to share more adventures and inspirations from locations around the world, capturing the essence of love in stunning settings.
